FAQ

How will I feel after taking Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid ?
  • Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid is a sub-perceptive microdose formulation that will not cause you to feel physiological effects. Upon waking the next day, people report feeling refreshed from a good night of deep sleep.
Can I take Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid every day?
  • The neuromodulatory effects of Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid are immediate but sub-perceptive, non-sedative, and not habit-forming. We designed Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid’s microdose formulation so that you can take it every night without becoming dependent, a buildup or accumulation.
  • Although not habit-forming, we recommend incorporating Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid into a consistent nightly ritual in the formation of healthy sleep habits. Over time, your sleep quality and efficiency will continue to improve with the adoption of healthy sleep habits.
Why is it best to take Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid on an empty stomach?
  • The majority of your body’s neurotransmitters are in the gut, not the brain.  For this reason we recommend taking Haurvatat in the evening at least 3 hours after eating, as food can interfere with neurotransmitter absorption.  While this is not a requirement, the closer your stomach is to empty, the higher the bioavailability.
Is Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid safe?
  • Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid is safe when taken as directed at the recommended dosage.
  • We designed our Haurvatat® formula from the purified natural plant extracts of Espand and natural fungi extracts of Boletus edulis mushrooms.  In addition to their anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, the natural beta-Carbolines extracted from Espand also function as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) [1] that can cause an increase in blood pressure when consuming foods containing tyramine [2].
  • The levels of tyramine in food have been decreasing over time, thanks to advancements in agricultural technology and improvements in food processing and storage.  Although tyramine related hypertension affects only a small minority of the population,  we recommend avoiding tyramine-rich foods when taking Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid.  Taking Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid on an empty stomach will also mitigate the risk of hypertension and nausea.
How does it work?
  • Our Deep Sleep Aid contains Haurvatat®, a precise microdose formulation of Espand-derived beta-Carbolines and Boletus edulis-derived antioxidants that, while sub-perceptive, begins to affect the central nervous system within 20 minutes of being ingested.  The compounds in Haurvatat® have been shown to:
    • Inhibit neurotoxins [3] and provide neuroprotective antioxidant effects [4]
    • Inhibit tumor cells [5] and promote the growth of anti-tumor cytokines [6]
    • Inhibit inflammatory signaling and the growth of inflammatory prostaglandins [7]
    • Promote neurogenesis by increasing BDNF and hNPC levels
    • Modulate neuroreceptors such as serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, histamine, and imidazoline that are involved in perception and consciousness [8]
  • Through these actions, Haurvatat promotes deep slow wave sleep, amplifying neuro detox and restorative healing while you sleep.  Furthermore, the antioxidants found in Boletus edulis mushrooms have been shown to amplify the neuroprotective effects of beta-Carbolines and glymphatic activity of your brain’s deep sleep phase.
Will Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid help me fall asleep faster or help me with insomnia?
  • Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid is non drowsy, and is not formulated to help you fall asleep faster nor stay asleep longer.  It will help to improve the efficiency of your deep slow wave sleep cycle, to improve the restorative effects during the time that you are asleep.
  • Many in our community have shared that the process of creating an evening ritual centered around the consumption of Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid has helped to form a healthy sleep habit in which it takes them less time to fall asleep.
How does Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid differ from Mang Lucid Dream Aid?
  • Although derived from purified extracts of the same Espand plant, Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid contains a different blend and dosage of selected beta-Carbolines than Mang Lucid Dream Aid.  While Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid is formulated to promote slow wave brain activity during the deep phase of sleep, Mang Lucid Dream aid is formulated to promote high frequency brain activity during the REM phase of sleep.
  • Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid is formulated to be a sub-perceptive microdose, whereas Mang Lucid Dream Aid is formulated to be a slightly perceptive minidose.
What happened to Haoma Deep Sleep Aid?
  • Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid replaces the supplement that was formerly called Haoma Deep Sleep Aid.  We made a few improvements to the deep sleep formulation, and decided to rename the product Haurvatat in honor of the Zoroastrian ideal of healthy balance.

Ancestral Philosophy

Espand – Holy Plant Wisdom

Haoma, also known as Soma, is the sacred potion used ritually since 1600 BCE in Pagan, Zoroastrian, and Vedic traditions of Ancient Persia and India for the pursuit of wisdom, insight, and immortality [9]. Espand, also known as Wild Rue or Peganum Harmala, is believed to be the fundamental ancestral plant used in concocting Haoma and is the key ingredient in Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid.

Espand is an abundant source of beta-carbolines [10], a class of naturally occurring organic compounds with psychoactive and neuroprotective properties [11]. Beta-carbolines are found naturally in a few plants, including Espand (P. Harmala) and Yage (Banisteriopsis Caapi), the ancestral Amazonian plant that is the main ingredient in the psychedelic brew Ayahuasca [12].  Thanks to modern science, we now understand the neurochemistry behind what our ancestors discovered thousands of years ago.

Boletus edulis (Porcini) – Culinary and Medicinal Delight

Boletus edulis is a type of edible fungus that dates back to 92 BCE, when trade began between the Persian and Roman Empires, where it was prized for its delicious flavor and medicinal properties.  Not only is it the key ingredient in a prized wild mushroom soup recipe, it has been used ancestrally as medicine for pain relief and to treat a variety of physical ailments such as stomachache and diarrhea.

Boletus edulis is a rich source of natural antioxidants such as ergothioneine, L-theanine, and glutathione that have been used to improve sleep and cognitive function. These compounds affect neuroreceptors such as glutamate which is involved in the regulation of the body’s sleep cycles.  These antioxidants in Boletus edulis synergistically amplify the deep sleep stage alpha-wave boosting effects of Espand-derived beta-Carbolines in combination, and complement its neuroprotective activity.

Pharmaceutical Science

Beta-Carbolines – Ancestral Secret to Neurological Health

Beta-carbolines such as harmine [13] are unique neuromodulators that have been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity in neurons [14] and promote neurogenesis by increasing levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) [15] and human neural progenitor cells (hNPC) [16].

Beta-carbolines also interact with the sleep cycle via the pineal gland, the part of the brain that regulates the body’s circadian rhythm.  The pineal gland regulates the sleep cycle via the synthesis of melatonin from serotonin (the “happiness hormone”) [17], and is also believed to produce both beta-carbolines and the psychedelic compound DMT (the “spirit molecule”) via alternate pathways [18].

Supplementation with Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid has been shown in individuals to increase the % of time spent in the stage of deep sleep per night.

The deep sleep stage is characterized by a prevalence of low-frequency delta brainwaves, often termed slow wave sleep [19].  Deep sleep is particularly important to the functioning of the glymphatic system [20], which flushes and detoxifies the brain of toxins such as amyloid plaques during this slow-wave phase of sleep [21].  Abnormal sleep patterns that result in nonrestorative sleep, restlessness, and fatigue are characterized by a preponderance of mid-frequency alpha brainwaves during sleep cycles [22].

Supplementation with Haurvatat Deep Sleep Aid has been shown in individuals to increase slow-wave brain patterns during sleep, promoting deep sleep, restoration, and neurological detox.

Not my favorite Magi formulation!

I've been exploring the various extracts at Magi a try for the past month. They've inspired me greatly with educating me about Syrian Rue which I had ironically extracted several years ago for a client, but hadn't personally tried.

Regarding the Deep Sleep Aid, unfortunately it did not yield this result for me - on every time I tried using the supplement from my trial pack. I tend to get VERY DEEP RESTFUL and easy sleep as my baseline. We live on property and have low EMF environment, turn off the circuit breaker when we sleep, use an eyemask and typically sleep gracefully.

On my last experience from last night, for instance, I awoke about 5-7 times throughout the night. When I awoke in the AM, I feel reasonably awake and alert, but that hasn't always been the case. I have gotten very poor sleep quality using Haurvatat, where my following day I felt out of sorts because I've had poor sleep quality.

Unsure if I would adjust the dose of Syrian Rue, add other plant extracts to aid with sleep (ie. Valerian Root, Tulsi, Lavender) or if my body chemistry is just hyper-sensitive to late night Syrian Rue extracts. Either way, I gave this 4 tries and it didn't yield a successful increased restful sleep quality for me. I do note that today I awoke feeling rather focused, though my sleep quality was poor.

I'd rather use a sleep formulation that always yielded neutral - positive results, this yielded more negative - neutral results for me. Have fun experimenting, your results may be different than my own!

Still an Insomniac

Nope. Didn't expect it to put me to sleep, but did expect more than 4 hours after I got to sleep.

Hi Cindy, thanks for giving Haurvatat a try. It is not meant to help with insomnia, as it won't help you fall asleep faster or stay asleep longer. It will help make the time that you are asleep more efficient for the deep sleep stage of your nightly cycle. If you sleep 14 hours, expect to have a greater portion of your 14 hours in deep sleep than normal. If you only sleep 4 hours, expect to have a greater portion of your 4 hours in deep sleep than normal. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us by email with any questions you have so we can try to advise what might work best for you.

Opposite of sleep aid. Up all night

The effects were more like ingesting, 3 cups of coffee before bed. Up all night. Tried it a second night just to be sure and it was the same effect. Take this product off the market and do everyone a favor.

Jim, we are very sorry to hear that your experience was so negative. Everybody and every body are different, and beta-Carbolines can have a different effect on each person... still we are surprised and disappointed that your experience was so different from our other customers. There are a myriad of factors that affect sleep (e.g. diet, exercise, stress, etc.) so hope that you will try it again in the future - please do not hesitate to reach out to us by email with questions or concerns that we will do our best to try to help with. We thank you for being open-minded to try our ancestral formulation.
